Zeds Dead just tied Kaskade for the most festival bookings we've ever counted
The board has had a clear No. 1 all month. Not anymore.
The all-time Most Booked board has had a clear leader all month. Not anymore. As of today, Zeds Dead and Kaskade are tied at 162 festival bookings apiece — the most we've counted for anyone.
Five days ago they weren't close to tied. Our own count on Wednesday had Kaskade out front at 161 and Zeds Dead chasing at 159. In the time since, Zeds Dead added three bookings and Kaskade added one, and the gap closed to nothing.
What didn't move
The same five days, we checked the artists sitting right behind them. Excision held flat at 152. Tiësto held flat at 136. Whatever added bookings to Zeds Dead and Kaskade this week didn't touch the artists one and two spots down — this wasn't the whole board shifting, just the top of it.
Our archive grew by 12 festivals over the same stretch, part of the steady backfill that's been running all month. Most of that growth didn't land on either of these two names. A little of it did, and it was enough.
Why the board still shows a No. 1
Open the board on the app and Zeds Dead sits at rank one, Kaskade at rank two. Count for count, that's not true — 162 is 162. The ranking has to put someone first, so it breaks the tie by a rule the count itself doesn't have an opinion on. Read the number, not the position, when two artists are this close.
Who breaks it first
Neither of them is sitting still. Zeds Dead plays Bridge City Block Party in Portland on September 5. Kaskade's next date, Sun Soaked in Huntington Beach, is a week later on September 12.
That means Zeds Dead is first back on stage, and first in position to pull ahead outright — for a week, at least, until Kaskade catches back up. If you're curious who's really in front, check the board again after the first weekend of September.
