GRiZ plays three times at Valley of the Seven Stars, and nothing plays against any of them
100 sets, five stages, four nights. All three GRiZ sets have the field to themselves. The calls you have to make come just before them.
Valley of the Seven Stars has put out its set times. It is the weekend GRiZ curates at Oak Ridge Estate in Arrington, Virginia: 100 sets on five stages, from Thursday night 8 October to 2am on Monday.
GRiZ plays three times. Friday 10:30 to midnight, a sunset set Saturday from 6:05 to 7:20, and Sunday 10:30 to midnight. For all three, every other stage is quiet. Four and a quarter hours of GRiZ, and you never have to choose against it.
That makes the weekend simpler than five stages sounds. Never more than three sets play at once. The decisions sit in the hour before each GRiZ set, and there are only a handful.
How each day runs
In the afternoon three stages run: Big Dipper, Zodiac and Ouroboros. At 6pm Ouroboros goes quiet, and the evening is two stages, Big Dipper and Zodiac. They change over about half an hour apart, so moving between them usually means arriving halfway through a set.
At midnight the big stages are done and three small ones take over, Barn Burner, Ouroboros and Satellite, with one-hour sets until 2am (3am on Saturday night). They all change on the hour, so it is a clean three-way pick each hour. Three of those late slots are billed only as Special Guest.
Thursday is a warm-up on the small stages, 7pm to midnight.
Friday: the 9 o'clock squeeze
G Jones is on Zodiac 8:30 to 9:30. Ganja White Night is on Big Dipper 9 to 10. Jade Cicada follows G Jones on Zodiac, 9:30 to 10:30.
Stay for all of Ganja White Night and you miss the second half of G Jones and the first half of Jade Cicada. The other way works too: all of G Jones, half an hour of Ganja White Night, then the back half of Jade Cicada. Jade Cicada finishes at 10:30, the minute GRiZ starts.
Saturday: one real pick
The sunset set is easy. Big Dipper's set before it ends at 5:50, and Zodiac and Ouroboros finish at 6. Nothing else is on.
The evening is harder. Mersiv on Big Dipper 8:30 to 9:30 and TYNAN on Zodiac 8:45 to 9:45 share 45 minutes.
Then the closest call of the weekend. LSDREAM plays Big Dipper 9:40 to 10:40 and YDG plays Zodiac 9:45 to 10:45. They overlap for 55 of their 60 minutes. You get one. If you pick YDG, LSDREAM is back on Big Dipper on Sunday at 1:35pm with a Lightcode set, so you are not shut out entirely.
Crankdat closes Big Dipper from 10:45 to midnight, alone again.
Sunday: Friday's shape, one more time
Hedex is on Zodiac 8:30 to 9:30. Levity b2b LYNY is on Big Dipper 9 to 10. The Glitch Mob follows Hedex, 9:30 to 10:30, and ends as GRiZ starts.
Same choice as Friday: all of the b2b costs you half of each set on either side of it. Levity has 13 upcoming shows on our calendar, more than anyone else on this bill.
Earlier on Sunday, Zodiac runs Gramatik at 5:15, CloZee at 6:25 and Whethan at 7:30. Each overlaps the Big Dipper set beside it by 20 to 35 minutes, so if those three are your afternoon, plan to stay at Zodiac.
Fifteen acts come straight from Wakaan
Fifteen acts on this bill, YDG and Whethan among them, play Wakaan in the Ozarks this week first. If you are doing both, you will see a lot of the same names.
The full grid is on the Valley of the Seven Stars event page. Save the sets you want, and make up your mind about 9:40 on Saturday before you get there. Valley of the Seven Stars is not in our ticket feed, so there is no ticket link on this one.
