Insomniac is 30 of the 142 festivals we hold. 71 other promoters are one each

Map Point Summit lands between EDC's two Las Vegas weekends next May, pitched at independent promoters. Here is what our catalog says about who those are.

Insomniac and Amsterdam Dance Event are starting a conference, and they say it is for the independents. We can't tell you who will speak at it. We can tell you how many independents there are to invite.

The news, briefly

It is called Map Point Summit. Pasquale Rotella, Insomniac's founder, announced it during his keynote at ADE's 30th edition in October, as EDMTunes and Nexus Radio reported. Three days at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas, in the week between the two EDC Las Vegas weekends in May 2027. Panels, workshops and networking, aimed at independent promoters, artists and people starting out. No speakers, no programme, no exact dates inside that week and no ticket details yet. You can register interest at mappointsummit.com. Rotella's line, as Nexus Radio carried it, was that rave culture was "built by ravers, for ravers."

Our catalog has the two weekends it sits between. EDC Las Vegas: Dusk runs 14 to 16 May and EDC Las Vegas: Dawn runs 21 to 23 May. Both lineups are still to be announced in our records. The only other festival we hold that runs itself twice in one city is Coachella, a month earlier.

How lopsided the field is

We hold 142 upcoming festivals, and every one carries a promoter tag. That gives 86 promoters. Here is how the 142 festivals split between them.

Insomniac holds 30. That is one festival in five. The next biggest, Ultra Worldwide, holds 7. Then Prime Social Group with 5 and Relentless Beats with 4. Insomniac alone holds more festivals than the next six promoters put together, who hold 25.

At the other end, 71 of the 86 promoters hold exactly one festival. Eight hold two. Only seven hold three or more.

Insomniac's 30 are not all in the desert. 23 are in the US and 7 are abroad, across Australia, the UK, Canada, Thailand, Mexico and the Netherlands. The 30 bills name 724 different acts between them. So when the company that holds a fifth of the catalog says it wants to help the people who hold one festival each, the gap it is describing is real, and it is bigger than the press line suggests.

Two rooms, one board

ADE is a conference with a club programme. EDC is a festival. We count bookings, not badges, so here is the overlap we can see.

Take the ten names on our all-time Most Booked board. Six of them have played both ADE and EDC Las Vegas in our records: Richie Hawtin, Tiësto, Jamie Jones, Adam Beyer, Loco Dice and Armin van Buuren. Three have played EDC Las Vegas and never ADE: Zeds Dead, Kaskade and Excision. One, Seth Troxler, has played ADE nine times and EDC Las Vegas never.

So the top of the two rooms already overlaps, and it is the bass end of the board that has never crossed to Amsterdam. That is the part a joint conference changes, if it changes anything.

What the number isn't

The promoter tag is ours, and we hold festivals, not club nights, warehouse shows or one-off parties. That is where most independent promoters actually work. So 71 is a floor on how many independents there are, not a count of them, and the catalog overstates how concentrated the scene is as a whole.

The point survives in the other direction. Among events big enough to reach a festival catalog at all, one company holds a fifth of them. That is the room Map Point Summit is opening in.

If you're going

If you are in Las Vegas that week, both EDC weekends are in the app and their lineups will land there when Insomniac posts them. Follow the names you care about and you'll know which weekend they are on. Before then, the Las Vegas festivals we hold are Neon City on 20 to 22 November and Jackpot over 26 and 27 December.

EDC Las Vegas: Dusk, Coachella, Neon City and Jackpot aren't in our ticket feed, so there's no link for them here.

Counts are from the Electric State festival catalog and Most Booked board on 1 November 2026: 142 upcoming festivals, each with one promoter tag. Most Booked is all-time festival bookings across the 3,114 festival editions we index. The conference details are as reported by the outlets linked above; we hold no data on the summit itself.
