The festival century club, three members and counting

Excision 112, Tiësto 104, Kaskade 101. Same number, three different circuits: the one Excision built, the main stage Tiësto has held since 2001, and the forty rooms Kaskade spread himself across.

The Scene Index holds 742 festival editions and more than 9,000 artists who have played at least one of them. Nine hundred and eighteen have been booked ten times or more. Sixty-two have fifty. Thirteen have seventy-five. Four have ninety.

Three have a hundred: Excision with 112, Tiësto with 104, Kaskade with 101. Zeds Dead is next at 95.

Who is first is the least interesting thing about that list. Three artists reached the same number through three festival ecosystems that barely resemble each other, and the count shows exactly how.

What a hundred means here

A booking is one artist on one festival edition's published lineup; a back-to-back counts once for each member. A hundred bookings is a hundred separate festival dates, not a hundred shows.

Since each of the three first appears, roughly one edition in every seven in the index has had them on it: 16% of the 682 editions dated 2010 or later for Excision, 15% of the 705 dated 2001 or later for Tiësto, 14.5% of the 700 dated 2004 or later for Kaskade. That is the shape of the achievement. Not a season, a rate held for two decades.

Excision: the ecosystem he built

Excision's first indexed booking is Movement 2010 in Detroit, a 41-name techno bill. Everything after it is a different sound. He has a booking in every calendar year since, seventeen straight, and 112 in total: 92 in the United States, 16 in Canada, three in Mexico, one in South Korea. Four countries. The narrowest map of the three, and the fastest pace, 112 in seventeen seasons.

The concentration is the story. Seventeen of the 112 are on the two festivals he founded: Lost Lands, on all nine editions the index holds, and Bass Canyon, on all eight. Add Shambhala at eight of ten and EDC Las Vegas at thirteen and a third of his history is four festivals. The names he shares bills with most often are Wooli at 44, SVDDEN DEATH at 38, Subtronics at 37, Liquid Stranger at 36. That is a roster, and he built the rooms it plays in.

He is also the only one of the three who has actually played his hundredth. Sort his bookings by date and number 100 is Beyond Wonderland Chicago on 6 June this year. He has played 104; eight are still ahead.

Tiësto: the main stage, since 2001

Tiësto's first indexed booking is Nocturnal Wonderland 2001, a 36-name bill in San Bernardino. The index holds 29 editions dated before 2010 in total, and he is on eight of them; Kaskade is on five, Excision on none. Twenty-five of the 26 calendar years since 2001 have a Tiësto booking; the only gap is 2006.

His ecosystem is the flagship main stage. Ultra Music Festival in Miami accounts for 19 of his 104, 18% of his entire history from one festival: every edition in the index from 2002 to 2019 except 2006, then 2024 and 2025. EDC Las Vegas is 15 more. His most frequent bill-mates are Armin van Buuren and AFROJACK at 39 each, Kaskade at 34, Martin Garrix at 33.

He also has the widest map: eight countries, the United States, Canada, Croatia, Mexico, Italy, Thailand, the United Kingdom and South Korea. And the busiest year of his career in the index is this one, 14 bookings dated 2026, including Creamfields, Portola, EDC Korea, EDC Thailand and three Breakaways. He has played 95. By date, number 100 is Portola, 26 September.

Kaskade: forty rooms

Kaskade's first indexed booking is Nocturnal Wonderland 2004, a 25-name bill. Twenty-two of the 23 calendar years since carry a booking; only 2007 is empty. He is on five of the 29 pre-2010 editions.

Where Excision concentrated and Tiësto held one main stage, Kaskade spread out. His 101 bookings fall across 40 distinct festivals, the most of the three, and 20 of those he has played exactly once. His median bill is 55 names, the smallest of the three, and 31 of his bookings are on lineups under 40 names: Das Energi, Decadence, Proper NYE, We Belong Here, Experts Only, Sun Soaked, his own, at nine. Excision has 22 such bookings, Tiësto 26. The boutique end of the circuit is a real part of how he got here.

His most frequent bill-mates are Green Velvet at 35, Tiësto at 34, Armin van Buuren and Excision at 33, Chris Lake at 27. Eighty-six percent of his bookings are in the United States. He has played 96, and by date his hundredth is EDC Colombia in Medellín on 10 October.

The one room all three share

Three ecosystems, and one festival runs through all of them. EDC Las Vegas is the most-booked festival in Excision's history and Kaskade's, at 13 each, and second in Tiësto's at 15. The three of them have been on the same bill 17 times, and 13 of those 17 are an EDC, eleven in Las Vegas and two in Orlando. The other four are Ultra 2011, Electric Forest 2011, Global Dance 2021 and Beyond Wonderland 2023.

Whatever else divides bass, main-stage and house, the index says the speedway is where they meet.

What the count can't say

The index is far denser recently than early: 29 editions before 2010, 267 in the 2010s, 413 dated 2020 through 2026. All three crossed a hundred in 2026, the widest year in the catalog, and that timing is partly the catalog's. Their rates, one edition in seven across their whole span, are the fairer read than the year they crossed.

Kaskade's number was 103 on the public board when we started writing this. The catalog held three rows for the one Sun Soaked date on 12 September, entered three times in June; we counted it once, and the two duplicates have since been removed from the catalog, so the board now says 101 too. His artist page, which lists shows by date, said five upcoming throughout.

Older lineups can be incomplete, and a booking is blind to the slot; a closing set on the main stage and an opening set in a tent are one row each. Every figure above is recomputable from the public catalog, and each artist's own page carries its upcoming count as an independent check: Excision 8, Tiësto 9, Kaskade 5, all of which match.
