The biggest bill left this year books almost none of the circuit

The largest lineup still ahead of us this year is not an American festival, and it books the American circuit less than almost anything its size.

Creamfields runs 27 to 30 August at the Daresbury Estate in Cheshire, fifteen days out. It has 245 named artists — the biggest published bill on our upcoming calendar, out of 54 festivals with a lineup of 20 or more. Second place is III Points at 212. Third is Lost Lands at 208.

That "published" is doing real work in the sentence. Coachella, EDC Las Vegas and Ultra are all on our 2027 calendar already and all three will land bigger. None of them has announced a name yet. Creamfields is the biggest thing we can currently count, not the biggest thing coming.

Most of the bill plays nowhere else we track

Of those 245 artists, 137 appear at no other festival on our upcoming calendar. That is 55.9% of the bill, and in raw count it is second only to III Points, which has 140 solo names on a bill of 212.

We call that share lineup exclusivity — the proportion of a bill you cannot see anywhere else in the index. It is the stat we get asked for most, because it is the closest thing to an answer for whether a ticket buys you something specific or something you could catch in three other fields this season.

The companion measure is the circuit index: the average number of indexed festivals per artist on the bill. A high number means a lineup assembled from the working touring circuit. A low one means a promoter went somewhere else to fill the stages. Creamfields sits at 1.99. Across all 54 bills that is 13th from the bottom, and among the ten festivals with more than 100 names, only three sit lower.

Then the number that makes the point bluntly. Our Most Booked board ranks the 25 artists with the most festival dates this season. Creamfields books three of them: KETTAMA at fifth, FISHER at ninth, and Eli Brown at twenty-fourth. Three names out of 245.

Some of that number is about us

This is where an honest profile has to stop flattering and explain itself, because the temptation is to read 55.9% as a compliment about curation.

Part of it is. Part of it is a fact about our index rather than about Cheshire.

Our catalog is heavily American. Of the 54 festivals with a countable lineup ahead of us, nine are outside the United States, and exactly two of those are in Europe — Creamfields and Glitch Festival in Malta. A British artist who plays eleven European festivals this summer and none in America appears in our data once, and that single appearance makes them look exclusive to Creamfields.

The pattern shows up cleanly when you split the index. The nine non-American festivals have a median exclusivity of 53.6% and a median circuit index of 2.27. The 45 American ones sit at 39.5% and 2.71. Overseas bills look more exclusive across the board, and they cannot all be more adventurous than everyone else. The measure is partly reporting where our coverage is thin.

So the accurate claim is narrower than the headline number, and still worth making: Creamfields shares very little with the American festival circuit, and it is the biggest bill of the year that can be said about. Whether the European circuit it does draw on is itself repetitive is a question our data cannot answer yet, and we would rather say that than imply we know.

Nothing else is on that weekend

One more thing the calendar makes obvious. Across all 54 indexed bills, exactly one festival's dates genuinely overlap Creamfields: Metamorphosis in Orlando, on the 28th and 29th. The two share a single artist, DØMINA, who has eight upcoming festivals on our calendar and is booked at both.

For a late-August bank holiday weekend, an empty board is unusual. It also means that for the next fifteen days, the largest lineup of the year has the calendar to itself.

Computed on 12 August 2026 from our own festival catalog and the Most Booked board — 115 upcoming festivals, of which 54 have 20 or more named artists after placeholder rows are filtered out. Exclusivity and circuit index are measured across those 54. Every figure here is recomputable from the same public data, and will move as lineups drop.
